In Dialogue in Silence, I explore the delicate threshold between presence and perception — between what is seen and what is intuited. The scene depicts a woman in a black dress crouching before a cat on a pale sofa.
I deliberately worked within a reduced palette — black, white, and sharp red — to strip the composition down to its emotional essentials. Light and shadow serve as active elements in the piece, introducing spatial depth and psychological nuance. The cat’s steady golden gaze creates an axis of tension, while the woman’s posture conveys a contemplative stillness that verges on cinematic.
The backdrop — a view of the sea framed by a window — alludes to a world beyond, a symbolic horizon. It is a contained yet infinite space, offering the viewer the possibility of internal projection. For me, this painting is not about illustrating a moment, but about invoking a state: the unspoken, the held breath, the mutual understanding that precedes words.
