Le Serin Cini est un tout petit oiseau (11-12 cm)
Étroitement associé au Serin des Canaries (Serinus canaria) ou Canari qui vit en cage, Il est très répandu en Europe, sédentaire, sociable et peu farouche
Le Serin Cini a pour cri typique un gazouillis sonore formé de trilles « trirrlilit »
Ce son est aussi utilisé en tant que contact entre les deux membres du couple.
C’est un pépiement rapide de notes mélodieuses et haut perchées et de trilles
